Grooming

Regular pet grooming has a number of incredible benefits beyond just making your pet look even cuter. Our full-service grooming includes shampooing, conditioning, nail trimming, gland expression, ear hair removal and cleaning, cut and style, and brushing.

While we approach each pet with compassion and patience, sedation grooming is also available to ease pets who may struggle with anxiety or aggression during grooming. The best way to keep pets at ease during a grooming session is to bring them in at a young age so they can get used to the grooming process.

Do you want to give your pampered pet a whole new look? Ask us about adding accessories like bows and kerchiefs, or even our nail buffing and painting!

Bathing

When your pet is regularly bathed and cleaned, you reduce the risk of parasite infestations in addition to making your pet look, smell, and feel wonderful. Ear and eye cleaning, in particular, helps to prevent infections and ear mites and keep your pet’s fur clean and stain-free around these sensitive areas.

Nail Trimming

Nail trimming provides unique benefits for both cats and dogs. Untrimmed nails on dogs will often curl underneath the paw or turn to the side, causing piercing pain with every step. It is crucially important to regularly trim your dog’s nails or bring them to a professional to keep your dog happy, healthy, and pain-free.

Unlike dogs, cats naturally shed the outer layer of nails as they grow to prevent overgrowth and keep their nails sharp for climbing, hunting, and fighting. Unfortunately, this often means that you, your furniture, and other household items may be used as nail sharpeners and to loosen these old claw sheaths. One of the best ways to protect yourself and your home from your cat’s natural nail maintenance is to keep their nails trimmed. This can be tricky to do at home and our staff here at The Boardwalk is highly experienced in handling all kinds of cats.

Cut and Style

One of the most important aspects of pet care is fur maintenance. While a fashionable haircut and style looks great and gives your pet a unique look, it’s also very important for their health. Long haired dogs, in particular can struggle with blocked vision, itching, overheating, and painful matting. When your pet develops matts, the tangled hair worsens as it grows and can pull the skin, causing pain and irritation. It’s also more difficult to rid your pet and your home of parasites, dirt, and dander. Regular styling and weekly brushing is a great way to keep your pet’s fur clean and tangle-free, while also distributing their natural oils for a shiny, healthy coat.

Veterinary Services

As a part of The Animal Doctor network, The Boardwalk is equipped to handle basic veterinary services including examinations, vaccinations, and microchipping during daily veterinarian visits. Microchipping is a great addition to a standard collar and tag, as it allows your pet to be scanned and returned to you if they are ever lost. Each chip is roughly the size of a grain of rice and contains a unique registration number used to identify you and your pet at any location equipped with a microchip scanner. Your pet’s microchip is professionally implanted at the back of the neck by a skilled veterinarian.

Boarding

Whether it’s for a few hours or a few days, leaving your pet with someone else can be a nerve-wracking experience. At The Boardwalk, we do our best to ensure your pet is as comfortable as possible during their stay here and to provide you with peace of mind.

Both cats and dogs are provided with their own individual space among their canine or feline friends for a more comfortable stay. Each dog has access to its own temperature controlled indoor/ outdoor run so they can relax in the shade or play in the sun as much as they want. Our boarded cats are alternately allowed free access to our secure cat room as a way to roam and exercise in a safe, protected environment.

While your pet is in our care, we ensure they’re well fed, comfortable, and get plenty of exercise and play time with our staff. Our pet boarding service is perfect for both overnight and long term stays while you’re away.

Day Care

In some situations, pets require care during the day that may be difficult to provide for owners who can’t stay home with them. This is especially true for puppies, kittens, elderly pets, and pets who may suffer from anxiety when left alone. No matter the circumstances, all cats and dogs are welcome at our pet day care during regular business hours. Our day care pets receive the same love, attention, and care as our boarding residents and can be picked up at any time until the end of the business day.

Products and Solutions

In addition to offering pet boarding, pet grooming, and day care, The Animal Doctor Boardwalk is also a well-stocked pet supply store! Our products include pet accessories, foods, cleaning products, and medication. And because we’re part of the Animal Doctor network, each of our products is veterinarian approved.

Many of our products are not available in average stores and include natural and homeopathic remedies, treats, and more. Our range of shampoos and conditioners include products made to target skin and coat conditions some pets struggle with to provide short and long-term relief for the ultimate pampering.
